Dear Brothers and Sisters of Africa,
The health crisis that the world is going through does not leave our countries unscathed. Affected by the Covid-19, Africa is about to pay, if we are not on our guard, a heavy price imposed by a threat that continues to gain ground.
Given the magnitude of the challenges, it has become essential to support our continent. In this regard, I welcome the excellent initiative taken by the African Union’s C.D.C. to organize a concerted response against a common enemy.
Last October, I participated in a webinar organized by the African Union, to raise public awareness about Covid-19 Response Fund. Along with other economic, political and cultural actors, we have appealed for support and solidarity to ensure that Africa is able to respond effectively to the health and economic consequences of the pandemic.
I appeal to the values of sharing and mutual aid that are ours, and I invite you to support this new surge of solidarity, which will better equip Covid-19 response fund.
These actions will greatly contribute to strengthening the resilience of our economies and states. As for me, I solemnly pledge to support this fund up to $500,000 USD.
This commitment follows direct support to the Senegalese populations, with the distribution of an amount of $1,500,000 USD in supplies and readies for those in need.
I remain convinced that it is by acting altogether in a concerted manner that we will be able to curb the scourge, and calmly address the future of our dear continent, whose fate is now in our hands.
To participate in the fund organized by the African Union, I invite you to visit their dedicated website.
